Ingredients

  • 100 g - deseeded soft dates, chopped
  • 100 g - tamarind or amchoor
  • 250 g - jaggery, grated
  • 1 tbsp - musk melon seeds, skinned
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - crushed mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - black salt
  • 2 to 3 cloves - garlic, crushed (optional)
  • Salt - to taste

How to Make Dates Chutney

  • Soak amchoor or tamarind in 250 ml water, for 30 minutes.
  • Boil it in the same water till mushy and thick.
  • Cool a little, strain and keep aside.
  • Boil dates in 200 ml water, till it is almost dry.
  • Add jaggery, stir till it melts and take off fire.
  • Add prepared paste and all other ingredients.
  • Cool completely before storing in airtight container.
  • Refrigerate and use as a chutney.
