Ingredients

  • 1 cup - dhania (whole)
  • 1 cup - black gram dal
  • 3/4 cup - urad dal
  • 2 tsp - jeera
  • 2 pods - garlic
  • 20 - red chillies
  • 1 tsp - sugar
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 3/4 cup - tamarind
  • A fistful of curry leaves
  • Oil to fry
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Dhania Powder

  • In a kadai, put 1 tsp of oil and fry red chillies.
  • When they turn maroon, remove and keep aside.
  • Put one more tsp of oil in the kadai and fry dhania till the colour changes. Keep aside.
  • Heat another tsp of oil and fry channa dal, urad dal, jeera, tamarind, and curry leaves for 10 minutes
  • Add sugar, turmeric powder, garlic and salt.
  • When all the ingredients are cool, grind them together to a coarse powder.
  • This can be stored in an air tight container.
