Ingredients

  • 3 cups - fresh drumstick leaves, cleaned and washed
  • 1/2 cup - yellow moong dal
  • 1 cup - fresh coconut, grated
  • 8-10 - baby onions
  • 1 - large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 2-3 - dry red chillies, broken
  • 1 stalk - curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - oil

How to Make Drumstick Leaf Errisery

  • Grind 3/4 cup of coconut, baby onions, cumin, chilli powder and turmeric together and keep aside.
  • Cook the dal in 2 cups of water until almost done.
  • Add the washed drumstick leaves and 1 cup of hot water.
  • Add salt. Cover and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Let the seeds splutter.
  • Add onions, coconut and chillies and saute until light brown.
  • Add coconut paste and saute until the oil separates.
  • Add to the dal and mix. Bring to boil.
  • Serve hot with roti or rice.
