One such unique recipe is Dutch Salad with a fine assortment of lemon juice, green apple, shredded cheese, red pepper and spinach. Whisk together the dressing ingredients namely - cider vinegar, corn oil, freshly ground black pepper, dry mustard and castor sugar.

  • Juice of 1 large lemon
  • 3 firm green eating apples
  • 225 gms. cheese, shredded
  • 200 gms. sweet red peppers
  • 350 gms. spinach
  • For the dressing:
  • 20 ml. cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp. corn oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp. dry mustard
  • ½ tsp. castor sugar

How to Make Dutch Salad

  • Put the lemon juice in a bowl. Dice the apples, discarding the core; turn at once in the lemon juice.
  • Cut the cheese into dices, same size as the apple. Cut the sweet red pepper into small strips.
  • Carefully wash the spinach and remove all the stems; roughly break the drained leaves into manageable pieces.
  • Whisk together the dressing ingredients and toss the spinach in the dressing until it glistens. Drain, and arrange round the edge of the salad bowl.
  • Toss the apple, cheese and sweet red peppers in the remaining dressing and pile in the centre of the spinach.
