  • 1 kg - Dry prawns or 2 kgs - fresh prawns.
  • 1 tbsp - Turmeric Powder.
  • 1/4 Liter - Sweet oil/Gingili oil.
  • 1/2 Bottle - Vinegar.
  • 250 gms - Ginger.
  • 250 gms - Kashmiri chillies.
  • 250 gms - Garlic.
  • 2 kgs - tomatoes, chopped.
  • 1/2 kg - Sugar or jaggery.

How to Make Easy Prawn Balchao

  • Dry prawns should be soaked in water for one hour.
  • Then apply turmeric powder and fry in oil.
  • If prawns are fresh, clean, shell the prawns, and devein the prawns. Apply turmeric powder and fry.
  • Grind all the masala ingredients in vinegar.
  • Fry the masala in oil that is leftover from frying the prawns.
  • Add tomatoes, jaggery and fried prawns and cook on slow fire for about an hour, stirring all the time.
  • Cool and then bottle.
