Ingredients

  • 10-12 - medium sized prawns.
  • 2- bay leaves - 2.
  • 2 tbsp - onion paste.
  • 1.5 tsp - ginger paste.
  • 1 tsp - garlic paste.
  • 2 tbsp - tomato puree.
  • 1/2 cup - coconut milk.
  • 1 tbsp - ghee.
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder.
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder.
  • salt to taste.
  • 1/2 tsp - sugar.
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala powder (cardamom, cloves and cinnamon).
  • coriander Leaves.
  • 3 tbsp - cooking oil (mustard oil preferable).

How to Make Easy Prawn Malai Curry

  • Wash and pat dry the prawns.
  • Sprinkle salt and turmeric powder on them.
  • Keep it aside.
  • Heat cooking oil in a frying pan.
  • Fry the prawns till it turns light golden.
  • Leave them aside.
  • Add two bay leaves in the remaining oil (while it's still hot from frying).
  • Add onion, ginger and garlic paste carefully into the oil and stir for a minute.
  • Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, chilli powder, sugar and salt and stir till oil gets separated from the mixture.
  • Add the prawns now and mix with them well.
  • Slowly add the coconut milk and then add half a cup of water and bring it to boil in low heat.
  • When the curry thickens, spread the ghee and garam masala powder evenly all around the pan.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice / naan.
