Ingredients

  • tamarind - gooseberry size
  • turmeric powder - a pinch
  • hing - 1/4 tsp
  • salt - to taste
  • tomato - 3(optional)
  • For seasoning:
  • red chillies - 3
  • toor dal - 2 tsp
  • mustard - 1 tsp
  • curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • oil - 2 tsp
  • coriander leaves(chopped)- for garnishing

How to Make Easy Rasam Recipe(Kottu Rasam)

  • Boil tamarind juice, turmeric powder, salt, and hing nicely until the raw smell of tamarind goes.
  • squeeze the tomatoes and add the tomato water as required. Boil for a while.
  • Switch off the flame and set aside. In a kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, broken red chillies, and toor dal.
  • When mustard seeds splutter and toor dal turns golden, add curry leaves.
  • Add this to the prepared rasam and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Rasam is ready to serve with hot rice and pappad.
