Ingredients

  • 2 cup - brown chana (kadalai)
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 2 - red chillies, broken into pieces
  • few curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - asafoetida
  • 2 - green chillies, slit
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • Salt, to taste

How to Make Easy Sundal

  • Soak channa overnight in water. Drain, add fresh water and cook till soft but not mushy.
  • Drain away the excess water, retaining about 3-4 tbsps.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard.
  • When it splutters, add red chilli, curry leaves and asafoetida.
  • Add channa, green chillies and salt. Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add grated coconut, mix well and remove from fire.
