Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg - chopped dates
  • 2 cups - water
  • 1 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • 1.5 tsp - cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp - ground cloves
  • 2 cups - flour
  • 2 tsp - baking soda
  • Whipped cream
  • 2 tbsp - orange rind

How to Make Eggless Date Pudding

  • Combine dates, water, sugar, oil, salt, cinnamon powder and ground cloves
  • Place in a saucepan, bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the fire and cool.
  • Sift 2 cups flour with baking soda.
  • Add the flour to the date mixture.
  • Pour into an ungreased shallow baking dish
  • Bake at 170 C for about 25 minutes.
  • Serve with sweetened whipped cream.
  • Add 2 tbsp orange rind to the cream for a decorative and delicious touch
