Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - Sesame seeds
  • 6 - Dry red chillies
  • 2 tbsp - Urad dal
  • 3 cups - Cooked Basmati rice
  • For Tempering:
  • 1/4 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Urad dal
  • 2 - Dry red chillies
  • few Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - Ghee

How to Make Ellu Sadham-Sesame Seeds Rice

  • Dry roast sesame seeds until they turn golden brown, remove and keep aside.
  • In the same pan dry roast the dry chillies, followed by urad dal.
  • Keep it aside and let them cool
  • Grind the roasted ingredients into a coarse powder with a pinch of salt and store in an air tight container.
  • Add this spice powder to the cooked rice as much as you desire.
  • Heat the ghee and fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, dry chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add the tempered spices to the rice and toss gently until the rice gets well mixed.
  • Add salt if required.
  • Serve hot with any side dish.
