Ingredients

  • 1 litre milk
  • 25 gms. makhana
  • 75 gms. sugar
  • 10 gms. each of sliced almonds, pistachios and raisins
  • 15 gms. charoli
  • A few drops of either essence of saffron or kewra

How to Make Festive Makhane Ki Kheer

  • Roast makhana in dry hot pan for 2 minutes, remove and pound coarsely.
  • Heat milk and sugar together, when the sugar dissolves, put in the makhana and cook, stirring frequently till the mixture turns quite thick.
  • Stir in nuts, raisins and essence and remove from fire.
  • Cool, cover with pieces of foil and serve immediately.
