NOTE: This recipe has been tweaked a little bit to give it a modern look and freshness. As shown in the plating, usually, these fritters are accompanied with silbatte ki chutney which is made with tomato ,ginger, garlic, green chillies ,coriander and green onions.

  • Gaith ki dal(soaked overnight and parboiled) 300 gm
  • Fine besan 20gm
  • Ginger(chopped) 5 gm
  • Garlic(chopped) 5 gms
  • Green chillies(chopped) 3 gms
  • Coriander(chopped) 5 gm
  • jakhia seeds (wild mustard) 2 gms
  • Asafoetida to taste
  • Red chilli powder 5 gm
  • Turmeric powder 2 gm
  • Salt as per taste
  • Refined oil 75 ml
  • Chopped pineapple 10 gm
  • Chopped plum 8 gm
  • Sugar 1 gm
  • Jeera powder 2 gm
  • Chopped coriander 1 gm
  • Chopped fresh green and red chillies 2 gm
  • Lemon juice 5 ml

How to Make Gaith Dal Fritters with Chunky Pineapple and Plum Chutney

  • For Fritters: Soak the lentil (Gaith ki dal) overnight. Take chopped ginger, chopped chillies ,chopped coriander, chopped garlic , jakhia seeds and mix it with soaked lentil.
  • Coarsely grind this mixture in a mixer. Now add the seasonings and mix well.
  • Add some besan to give the mixture binding. Make small round shaped fritters and keep aside.
  • For Salsa: Mix all the ingredients for salsa in a bowl. Fry the fritters and plate it accordingly.
