  • 2-ripe tomatoes
  • 3-red chillies
  • 2tsp- channa dal
  • 2tsp- urad dal
  • 1tsp-dhaniya (seeds)
  • 1tsp- jeera
  • 2strips-tamarind
  • salt
  • 3 spoons-oil

How to Make Garam Tomato Chutney

  • Soak tamarind in 4-5 spoons of warm water, fry all the above ingredients except for tomatoes and tamarind in a pan without oil.
  • Once everything is fried, add tomatoes to them and allow them to cook.
  • Add salt as required and tamarind, grind these to a smooth paste.
  • In a pan, add 3 spoons of oil, allow it to heat and add asafoetida to it.
  • Now add the ground paste, mix it and allow it cook for 5 mins in simmer.
  • Sprinkle with coriander leaves and serve with hot rice, idli or dosa.
