Ingredients

  • 1 cup - poha or beaten rice or avval (ground to crystals)
  • 2 tsp - rasam powder
  • 1.5 tsp - tamarind paste
  • A pinch - sugar
  • a strand -curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - channa dal and urad dal
  • 1 tsp - groundnuts or peanuts
  • 1 tsp - mustard and jeera seeds
  • a pinch - turmeric
  • salt to taste

How to Make Gojjavalakki

  • Mix the tamarind paste, rasam powder, salt and sugar well into a paste.
  • Add a little water to soak the poha.
  • Now, heat oil in a kadai, add mustard, jeera seeds and allow them to splutter.
  • Add channa dal, urad dal and peanuts.
  • When they turn golden brown, add curry leaves and a pinch of turmeric.
  • Add the poha and mix well.
