  • 2 cups - Cooked rice
  • 1 cup - Grated gooseberries
  • 1 tsp - Mustard seeds + Urad dal
  • 1 tsp - Channa dal
  • 2 - Green chillies (slit)
  • 3 - Dry red chillies
  • Few peanuts
  • 1 tsp - Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp - Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafetida powder
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • Salt
  • Oil

How to Make Gooseberry Rice-Nellikaai Sadham

  • Heat enough oil. Fry the mustard seeds, urad dal, channa dal, peanuts, curry leaves, dry red chillies and asafoetida powder.
  • Immediately add the slit green chillies and grated ginger.
  • Saute for a few seconds. Now add the grated gooseberries with turmeric powder and saute until it shrinks a bit.
  • Immediately add the cooked rice with enough salt and toss everything gently.
  • Finally add the ghee and turn off the stove.
  • Serve hot with spicy potato fries..
