Ingredients

  • 2 - Green apples
  • 1/4 cup - Toor dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - Rasam powder
  • 1 tbsp - Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard seeds+cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafetida powder
  • 2 - Dry red chillies
  • 5 - Curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp - Coriander leaves (chopped)
  • Salt
  • Oil

How to Make Green Apple and Dal Rasam

  • Peel and chop the green apples.
  • Keep aside half a cup of apple chunks. Pressure cook the remaining apples chunks with toor dal and turmeric powder with enough water up to 3 hisses.
  • Once they get well cooked, smash the apple and dal mixture nicely. Keep aside.
  • Heat enough oil. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies and asafoetida powder. Let it splutter.
  • Once the spices get well fried, add the apple chunks and saute everything for a while.
  • Finally add the apple-dal mixture with rasam powder, water, curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt.
  • Once they starts bubbling, add the lemon juice and put off the stove.
