Ingredients

  • 1 cup - toor dal
  • 2.5 cup - water
  • 1/2 cup - green mango, chopped
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 6 - dry red chillies
  • 10 to 12 cloves - garlic
  • 1/2 tsp - black pepper corns
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - oil

How to Make Green Mango Dal Kadi

  • Pressure cook dal with water and turmeric till soft and mash.
  • Heat oil in a small frying pan and fry grated coconut, turmeric powder, red chillies, garlic, pepper and cumin.
  • Cool and grind to a paste, add green mango and salt to the dal, simmer for 5 mins.
  • Add the ground paste and simmer for two more minutes.
  • Serve.
