  • For stuffing:
  • 1 - Carrot, grated
  • 1 - Spring onion with greens, finely chopped
  • 1 - Parboiled potato, grated
  • 1/2 cup - Cabbage finely shredded
  • 1/2 cup - Milk
  • 2 tbsp- Plain flour
  • 1 tbsp- Butter
  • 2 tbsp- Grated cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Other ingredients:
  • 6- Medium, round, plain buns
  • 2 tbsp - Grated cheese
  • 2 tbsp- Salad leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - Butter .

How to Make Grilled Open Buns

  • Horizontally cut the top 2 inch of the buns.
  • Cut these round shapes into half rounds. Butter and keep aside.
  • Now scrape out the inside of the buns. Keep the sides intact.
  • Brush them with butter and keep aside.
  • For the stuffing:
  • Heat butter in a non-stick pan, add all the veggies and saute for 2 mins.
  • Add milk, salt, pepper and bring to boil.
  • Mix the flour in 1/4 cup water, and add it to the mixture.
  • Keep stirring until it starts boiling . Now add the bun scrapings and cheese to it.
  • Cook until the mixture thickens.
  • Let it cool.
  • Fill each lower half with this mixture.
  • Heat a griddle or tawa and cook the buns, filling side down, until the crust of the filling turns golden. Set aside.
  • Now cook the top half rounds until the flat sides are golden.
  • Now place the bottom bun on individual plates.
  • Sprinkle some cheese and salad leaves on top.
  • Take two half rounds, press the straight edges down in the middle of bun.
  • Serve hot with ketchup.
