Ingredients

  • Tomatoes - 1 kg
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a little
  • Sesame oil - 1 small cup
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp

How to Make Homemade Tomato Thokku

  • Boil tomatoes till the skin gets peeled .
  • When done, allow it to cool and grind.
  • In a pan, pour oil and add fenugreek, mustard seeds along with asafoetida.
  • When it splutters, add tomato paste and when it starts boiling, add chilli powder.
  • Boil for 30-45 mins until the colour of the thokku becomes dark and the oil starts float.
