Ingredients

  • 1 cup - whole meal self-rising flour
  • 1 cup - self-rising flour
  • 1 cup - dates
  • 1/2 cup - sugar
  • 1/2 cup - skimmed milk
  • 120 g - polyunsaturated margarine
  • 1 - egg
  • 4 tbsp - honey

How to Make Honey and Date Cake

  • Melt margarine using double boiling method.
  • Add chopped dates, lightly beaten eggs, honey and milk.
  • Sift flours and return husks to the bowl.
  • Add sugar and chopped dates. Mix well.
  • Pour the batter into a greased cake tin.
  • Bake in a moderately slow oven at 180 degree C for about 1/2 an hour.
  • Allow to cool 8 minutes before turning out onto wire rack.
