Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breast fillets
  • 2 tbsp - honey
  • 2 tbsp - hot water
  • 2 tsp - lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tsp - grated ginger
  • oil for deep frying
  • pepper to taste
  • salt to taste
  • For batter:
  • 1 tbsp - plain flour
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 2 tbsp - water
  • 2 tsp - honey
  • 1 tbsp - soy sauce
  • 1 egg white

How to Make Honeyed Chicken Pieces

  • Combine the honey, water, lemon juice, garlic and ginger in a bowl.
  • Slice the chicken into thin strips; transfer into a glass dish and brush with the honey mixture.
  • Cover the dish and refrigerate for 12 hours.
  • Dry chicken well and season with salt and pepper.
  • Dip the chicken pieces into the batter, draining any excess.
  • Heat 3-4 cm oil in a pan; add the chicken pieces, a few at a time, and cook for 2 minutes till dark golden brown.
  • Remove from the oil; drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot.
  • To make batter:
  • Combine the flour, water, honey, oil, soy sauce in a bowl; mix until smooth.
  • Whisk the egg white until light and fluffy.
  • Quickly fold into flour mixture.
