Ingredients

  • 2 cups - Cooked rice
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 6 - Garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp - Mustard seeds
  • 5 - Dry red chillies
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp - Urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp - Asafetida powder

How to Make Hot Mustard Rice

  • Grind the mustard seeds, dry red chillies with salt into a fine powder.
  • Heat enough oil in a large kadai, splutter the mustard seeds and urad dal along with asafoetida powder.
  • Add the chopped garlic, saute until it turns slightly brown.
  • Now add the onions, curry leaves and cook until the onions turns translucent.
  • Add the cooked rice, ground spice powder to the onions and toss everything gently, until the rice is mixed well.
  • Serve with raitas or papads.
