  • 1 - Ridge gourd
  • 1 tsp - channa dal
  • 1 tsp - urad dal
  • A few red chillies, as per taste
  • 5-6 tsp - desiccated coconut
  • 1 tsp - tamarind paste
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds for seasoning
  • 3 tsp - oil for seasoning

How to Make Hot Ridge gourd Chutney

  • Wash and peel the skin of the ridge gourd.
  • Roast channa dal, urad dal, red chillies and asafoetida in a frying pan. Keep them aside.
  • Roast the peeled skin of ridge gourd in the same frying pan. Allow to cool.
  • Grind the roasted items with coconut, tamarind, turmeric powder and salt to a smooth paste.
  • Heat the oil, add mustard seeds, and once they sputter, add this to the ground paste.
  • Serve as side dish
