Hot shrimp curry with coconut is a delicious Indian recipe that is famous along coastal areas. The recipe is made from shrimp and can be made in very less time. The recipe starts with frying onions and adding some condiments such as coriander, cumin, cayenne powder, mustard seeds, black pepper, bay leaf and garlic. The grated coconut is also added after frying it for a minute. Shrimp is added to the gravy and simmered for some time. Garnish it with lemon juice and serve.

  • 2 tbsp-oil
  • 1 bay leaf, crumbled
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2/3 cups grated unsweetened coconut
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1.5 tsp-salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 pounds raw shrimp, shelled and deveined
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp-ground coriander
  • 1 tsp-cumin
  • 1.5 tsps-cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp-mustard seeds, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp-black pepper, crushed

How to Make Hot Shrimp curry with coconut

  • Heat oil and fry onion, coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper, mustard seeds, black pepper, bay leaf and garlic for 2 to 3 minutes
  • Put in coconut and fry another minute or two
  • Add lemon juice, salt and wate
  • Simmer for 10 minutes
  • Add shrimp and cook until done
