  • 2 cups - left over idli
  • 3 cups - yogurt
  • 2 tbsp - cumin (jeera)
  • 2-3 - dry red chillies
  • Coriander leaves - a small bunch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Sugar as required
  • For garnishing:
  • Green chutney
  • Sweet chutney
  • Sev
  • Some chopped onion and tomato
  • Chat masala
  • Coriander leaves

How to Make Idli Dahi Wada

  • Beat yogurt with salt and 1/4 tsp of sugar.
  • Dry roast jeera and red chillies and grind it to powder. Add this to the beaten yogurt with a little water.
  • Now fry the idlis (broken in small pieces) in oil.
  • Dip each piece of idli in the yogurt batter and deep fry until golden brown.
  • Boil and mash the potatoes. Mix the green chillies, coriander leaves and salt.
  • Spread tamarind chutney and green chutney on each slice, and a spoon of the potato.
  • Serve garnished with onion, tomato, coriander and sev.
