Ingredients

  • Raw rice - 2 cups
  • Toor dhal - 1/2 cup
  • Dried red chillies -5 - 7
  • Seasoning
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard -1 tsp
  • Asafoetida
  • Onion
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt

How to Make Kara Dosai

  • Soak rice and dhal separately for two hours.
  • Then grind rice with red chillies and the dhal separately.
  • Now mix both the batters together, it can be of thin consistency.
  • Heat oil in kadai, add mustard seeds, finely chopped onion and fry well with curry leaves and asafoetida.
  • Pour the seasoning to the rice, dhal batter, add salt to taste.
  • Heat the tava, and pour the batter from outer edge to middle of the tava, wait until it is cooked well and becomes golden colour add oil around.
  • Serve hot with any chutney or sambhar.
