Ingredients

  • For dough:
  • 2 cups - maida
  • 2 tbsps - sooji
  • 4 tbsps - ghee
  • Water
  • 15 ml - milk
  • For frying:
  • 1 - cup oil
  • For filling:
  • 1.5 cups - jaggery
  • 1 cup - chana dalia powder
  • 1 cup - dry coconut powder
  • Cashewnuts and dry grapes - a few
  • Cardamom powder

How to Make Karchikayi

  • Prepare a slightly stiff dough with the above ingredients.
  • Keep it aside for 1 hour.
  • Grind chana dalia powder, jaggery, coconut powder finely and add cashwenuts, grapes and elaichi powder and mix well.
  • Make small balls of dough and roll them into elliptical shapes.
  • Put 1 tbsp spoon of mixture along the centre.
  • Apply milk on the sides and stick the edges.
  • Heat oil in pan and deep fry.
