Ingredients

  • 2 - karelas
  • 6 - 10- green chillies
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 1 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup - curd
  • Few - curry leaves
  • Salt
  • Oil

How to Make Karela (Kayapakka) Pachadi

  • Wash and deseed the karela and chop it finely.
  • Add salt to it and remove the water.
  • Add oil in kadai and fry karela till golden brown.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Make a paste of grated coconut, green chillies and mustard seeds.
  • Add this paste to the fried karela and mix well.
  • Add curd to this.
  • Add salt if required and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds.
  • When they splutter, add the curry leaves and add to the karela pachadi.
  • You may have this with chapatti and rice as a side dish.
