Ingredients

  • Brinjal - 4
  • Toor dal - 1/2 cup
  • Split green gram - 1/4 cup
  • Onions - 2 medium
  • Tomatoes - 1 medium
  • Tamarind extract - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chillies - 5
  • Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
  • Chana dal - 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp

How to Make Kathirikkai Gothsu

  • In a pressure cooker, mix everything except tamarind and cook with 3 cups of water.
  • Let it cool.
  • Powder coriander, chana dal and urad dal.
  • Add salt and mash well.
  • Add the ground powder and tamarind juice.
  • Bring it to boil and then simmer.
  • Splutter mustard in 3 tsps oil and add cumin seeds, urad dal, 2 red chillies crushed with fingers, curry leaves.
  • Pour this seasoning into the mixture in the pan.
