  • 4 - large ripe bananas
  • 1 cup - yoghurt
  • 2 tsp - sugar
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 3 tbsp - freshly grated or desiccated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
  • lemon juice

How to Make Kela Raita (Yoghurt with Bananas)

  • Slice bananas and sprinkle with lemon juice.
  • Roast cumin seeds in a dry pan, shaking or stirring constantly until they become brown.
  • Crush or grind.
  • Combine the yoghurt with all the ingredients except the banana.
  • If desiccated coconut is used, moisten it first by sprinkling 2 tbsps of water to ensure that it is not dry.
  • Fold banana into the yoghurt mixture.
  • Chill and serve.
