Ingredients

  • Raw rice - 1.5 cups
  • Coconut - 1/2
  • Yeast - 10 - 12
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Salt -1/2 tsp

How to Make Kerala Appam

  • Soak raw rice in water for two hours.
  • Grind the rice with half a coconut.
  • Add yeast, sugar and salt with the paste and mix well.
  • Keep it overnight to ferment.
  • The next day, make the appam in a pan over low flame, covered.
