Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg - chicken, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 100g - curd
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • A few strands of saffron
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • For the paste:
  • 3 red chillies, deseeded
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 star anise
  • 3 black peppercorns
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1/2 inch long piece of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup - chopped coriander
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 8 cashew nuts
  • 1 tsp - raisin

How to Make Kesar Dahi Chicken

  • Heat oil in a large pan, fry onions till brown.
  • Add ground spices and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the chicken and fry till brown.
  • Add 2 cups of water, curd and saffron strands and simmer till the chicken is cooked.
  • Season with salt and remove from heat.
  • Serve this dish hot with cashewnuts and raisins on top.
