Ingredients

  • 1 cup - masoor dal
  • 1 - onion, chopped fine
  • 2 - tomato, chopped fine
  • 1 tsp - ginger garlic paste
  • 3 - 4 - green chillies, chopped fine
  • 1 tbsp - oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp - rai
  • 1 tsp - cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • coriander leaves, chopped for garnishing
  • salt

How to Make Kesari Dal

  • Soak masoor dal for half hour.
  • Take oil or ghee in a cooker, add rai and cumin seeds and splutter.
  • Add turmeric powder and fry onions till it turns pink.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and chillies and fry till it turns brown.
  • Add tomatoes and fry till it becomes mashed.
  • Add the dal and close the cooker and cook for one whistle.
  • Open and garnish with coriander leaves and have with chapatti as a side dish.
