Ingredients

  • 1 chicken
  • 8 ounce plain yoghurt
  • 1.5 tsp - cardamom
  • 1 tbsp - fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp - fennel
  • 1 tsp - caraway
  • 1 tsp - coriander
  • 1 tsp - chilli
  • 1 onion
  • 3 tbsp - oil
  • 1" piece cinnamon stick
  • 5 to 6 cloves
  • chopped coriander leaves or parsley
  • 1.5 tsp - salt
  • water as required

How to Make Khasta Chicken

  • Season the yoghurt with cardamom, ginger, garlic, fennel and salt.
  • Cut chicken to pieces and let the chicken pieces marinate in the yoghurt for a few hours or overnight.
  • Heat oil and fry chopped onion so that it becomes transparent.
  • Add a spoonful of water and crushed caraway, coriander and chilli.
  • Add strained chicken pieces and fry till the surface gets golden yellow.
  • Add some water, cinnamon and a few cloves if you like.
  • Close with a lid and let simmer for 30-45 mins.
  • Just before serving, add some ground coriander or chopped parsley.
