  • 2 cups - Bottle gourd (cubed)
  • 1 cup - Moong dal
  • 1 tbsp - Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 3 - Green chillies
  • 1 tsp - Mustard seeds
  • 2 - Bay leaves
  • 2 - Dry red chillies
  • Salt
  • 1/2 tsp - Sugar
  • A few coriander leaves

How to Make Lau Mung Sukto-Bengali Bottle gourd Moong dal

  • Cook the moong dal in pressure cooker for 2 whistles with salt until it turns soft.
  • Once the steam is released, add the cubed bottle gourd, turmeric powder and cook with lid closed until the bottle gourd pieces are well done.
  • In a small pan, saute the bay leaves, dry red chillies and mustard. Add the tempered spices to the dal.
  • Add green chillies, grated ginger and sugar and cook for a few minutes.
  • Add coriander leaves and take off the stove.
  • Serve hot with rice and pickles or papads.
