Ingredients

  • 1 large or 2 small - Laukis
  • 1 cup - Channa dal (Bengal gram) soaked for 1 hour
  • 1 - large onion
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 clove
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • A piece if ginger
  • 1 tsp -n chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric
  • Lots of coriander for garnishing
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • water to cook

How to Make Lauki Sabji

  • In a pressure cooker, saute clove, cinnamon and then garlic, ginger and onion.
  • Add tomatoes and fry a little.
  • Cut lauki into cubes.
  • Add to the onion mixture along with the soaked channa dal.
  • Add chilli and turmeric powders and salt.
  • Pour enough water to cover the vegetables.
  • Pressure cook for 15 minutes or till done.
  • Garnish with coriander.
  • Serve with rotis or rice.
