Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup - masoor dal
  • 4 cups - chicken stock or water
  • 1 - medium sized carrot
  • 1 - small onion
  • 2 - cloves of garlic
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • 2 - cloves
  • 8-10 - peppercorns
  • 1 - small stalk celery (optional)
  • 1/2 cup - low fat milk
  • For garnishing:
  • 1 tbsp - mint leaves (chopped)

How to Make Lentil soup

  • Wash the dal and put in a pressure cooker with stock or water and the rest of the ingredients.
  • Pressure-cook for 4 minutes.
  • Remove bay leaf.
  • Liquidise the soup in a blender.
  • Add milk.
  • Serve hot, garnished with a little chopped mint leaves.
