  • 1.5 cups - All-purpose flour
  • 2 -Eggs
  • 1/2 cup - Butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup - Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp - Baking soda
  • 1 tsp - Baking powder
  • 1 tsp - Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup - Buttermilk
  • Juices from 2 limes
  • 1 tbsp - Lime zest
  • 1/4 tsp - Salt
  • Lime sugar glaze:
  • 1/4 cup - Confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp - Lemon juice

How to Make Lime Buttermilk Pound Cake

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.
  • Combine the flour with baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • Beat the butter and sugar together until it turns soft.
  • Add the eggs one by one, add the vanilla extract, lime juice and lime zest, slowly add the flour and buttermilk and fold into a smooth batter.
  • Pour the cake batter into a greased mould or a silicon round mould and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown.
  • Mix the sugar and juice till it turns into a thick glaze. If it is thin add more sugar.
  • Remove the cake from the mould, pour the glaze over the cake and spread evenly.
  • Decorate with chocolate sprinkles.
