Ingredients

  • 500 g - fish (rohu or any other big fish)
  • 115 g - potato
  • 100 g - colocasia
  • 250 g - yam
  • 2 - plantain
  • 100 g - onion
  • 1 cup - coconut (grated)
  • 25g -whole Bengal gram (boiled)
  • 1 tsp - panch purahn
  • 1 tsp - cumin seed
  • 1 tsp - mustard seed
  • 1 tsp - pepper
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp -garam masala powder
  • 6 tbsp - oil
  • 3 - 4 cloves -garlic
  • salt

How to Make Machha Mahura (Fish with Mixed Vegetable Curry)

  • Clean and wash the fish properly.
  • Coat with salt and turmeric powder and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  • Wash and cut all the vegetables into medium sized cubes.
  • Chop onion and keep aside.
  • Grind mustard seed, cumin, pepper, garlic, red chillies, and coconut into a fine paste.
  • Heat oil, add bay leaf, panch purhan.
  • When this pops, add chopped onion and stir for few minutes.
  • Now add marinated fish and fry it for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Add vegetables, turmeric powder salt and boiled whole gram, stir well, and add 3 to 4 cups of water.
  • When vegetables are almost cooked, add ground masala to it.
  • Cook it for a while.
  • Now sprinkle garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves over it.
  • Serve hot with plain rice or roti.
