Ingredients

  • 2 cups - white peas (soaked and cooked in pressure cooker)
  • 4 - onions (chopped)
  • 2 - tomatoes (chopped)
  • 4 - garlic (chopped)
  • 1 inch piece - ginger (chopped)
  • 2 - green chillies (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup - grate coconut
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp - dry mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp - garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
  • salt to taste
  • oil as needed
  • mixture for topping the pav buns
  • A few chopped coriander leaves
  • 6 - pavs

How to Make Masaledar Misal Pav

  • For misal pav:
  • Keep aside a few chopped onions for use while serving.
  • Heat a kadai with a tbsp of oil and saute the onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, green chillies until they turn soft.
  • Add the coconut and cook for a few minutes. Keep aside and allow it to cool.
  • Grind the sauteed veggies as a paste.
  • Heat enough oil in a kadai and fry the cumin seeds until they turn brown.
  • Add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, dry mango powder and fry on low flame for a few seconds.
  • Immediately add the paste and cook everything on simmering flame. Add enough water to prepare a gravy.
  • Add salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the cooked peas, bring to boil and turn off the stove.
  • While serving, top it with the pav buns mixture, chopped onions and coriander leaves.
  • Serve with pav buns.
