Ingredients

  • 1 cup - masoor dal (red dal)
  • 2 - tomatoes
  • 1 tsp - chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp - cumin powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 tsp - ghee
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp - cumin seeds

How to Make Masoor Dhal Curry

  • Cook the masoor dal along with the chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and 2 or 3 cups of water till it becomes soft.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Remove it from heat.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard, and curry leaves.
  • When the mustard begins to crackle add the onions and cumin seeds and saute till it turns brown.
  • Turn off the heat.
  • Now add the cooked dal and a tsp of ghee and mix well.
  • Serve with steamed rice and any side dish.
