Ingredients

  • 1 bunch - fenugreek leaves
  • 1/2 cup - red gram dal
  • 1 - onion
  • 1 - tomato
  • 2 - green chillies
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • lemon size - tamarind
  • 2 flakes (small) - garlic
  • 2 tbsp - grated/shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp - mustard
  • 1 tbsp - black gram dal
  • small quantity - curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

How to Make Methi dal

  • Wash and cut fenugreek leaves and keep it aside.
  • Wash dal and keep it in pressure cooker along with green leaves, chopped onion, tomatoes, garlic, tamarind paste, green chillies, red chilli powder, grated coconut and little salt.
  • Pour 1 cup of water and boil it for some 15 minutes. Smash it.
  • Heat oil in a pan/kadai, splutter mustard seeds, black gram dal, curry leaves and add it to the boiled dal.
