Ingredients

  • Button or oyster mushroom - 200 g
  • Coriander seed - 1 tbsp
  • Pepper - 1 tsp
  • Fennel - 1 tbsp
  • Grated coconut - 1/3 cup
  • Red chilli - 5-6
  • Garlic - 6 flakes
  • Ginger - small piece
  • Oil - 4 tbsp
  • Cinnamon - 2 pieces, 2 cm each
  • Onion - 1 cup, chopped
  • Tomato - 1 cup, chopped
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Mushroom Pepper Fry

  • Clean and cut the mushrooms into quarters.
  • Roast the coriander seeds, pepper, fennel seeds, coconut, red chillies, garlic and ginger in a little oil and grind to a smooth paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the cinnamon pieces and chopped onions.
  • When the onions turn brown, add the paste and the tomatoes and fry well.
  • Add the mushrooms and salt.
  • Cover and cook on slow flame for about 10 mins until the mushrooms are tender.
  • Serve with rice or roti.
