  • 1 tbsp - oil
  • 1 - onion, finely sliced
  • 6 - garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 cup - fresh green peas (shelled and separately boiled. Reserve 2 tbsp stock water from the cooked peas)
  • 2 tbsp - grated coconut (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp - salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp - pepper powder (optional)

How to Make Mutter Ki Dry Subzi

  • Heat oil in a pan or karahi on a medium heat.
  • Add sliced onion and fry on a medium heat until golden colour.
  • Add chopped garlic and fry for 2 - 3 minutes.
  • Turn the heat to very low and add red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  • Gently stir well for 2 minutes until well combined.
  • Add separately boiled peas, grated coconut and salt to taste.
  • Sprinkle 2 tbsp peas stock or normal water.
  • Mix all the ingredients well.
  • Cover with a tight lid and cook on a medium to low heat for 10 minutes until done - water dries up - peas well combined with all the ingredients.
  • Sprinkle 1/4 tsp pepper powder if required for a spice flavour.
  • Serve as a side dish with rice - rotis - pulao.
