  • 1/2 kg - mutton
  • A bunch of coriander (more than a handful, well chopped)
  • 4-5 - red chillies
  • 1 tbsp - pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp - ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 - onions
  • 1 -tomato
  • 3-4 - potatoes
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Mutton Dish (Phaal)

  • Pressure cook the mutton for 3-4 whistles. Keep aside. Heat oil and fry the onions for a while. Then add ginger-garlic paste and fry a little longer.
  • Make a paste out of coriander, red chillies, pepper powder, tomato and fried onions (from step 1 ).
  • Take a wok, add the paste and heat well. Keep stirring until paste thickens and raw smell disappears.
  • Add some water and mutton pieces along with potatoes and cook for 20 mins.
  • Stir once in a while and add water if you require a little extra gravy.
