  • 1- Narthangai (Citron)
  • Tamarind- gooseberry shaped ball
  • 3- Green Chillies
  • 1/2 tsp- Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp- Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 tsp- Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tsp- Fenugreek Powder
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp- Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp- Jaggery

How to Make Narthangai Pachadi

  • Soak tamarind in hot water. Chop citron and green chillies.
  • In a pan, add sesame oil and mustard.
  • Once it crackles, add asafoetida, chopped citron and green chillies.
  • Take out the tamarind extract and boil. Then, add red chilli powder and salt to it.
  • Once it reaches a thick gravy, add powdered jaggery and roasted & powdered fenugreek powder.
  • Mix well and switch off the flame. Serve with idli, dosa or with pongal and rice.
