  • 1 cup - green moong dal
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup - rice
  • 1 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp - ghee
  • salt to taste
  • 6-7 cups - water

How to Make Nutritional Green Khichidi

  • Wash both dal and rice together. Soak for an hour in salted water.
  • Add half the turmeric. Pressure cook dal with half the water. It gets done in about 4 whistles.
  • Transfer to a large saucepan, add remaining water, turmeric, ghee and add more salt if required.
  • Cook while stirring, till the khichidi is thick and well mixed. Mash a little if desired.
  • Serve hot with more ghee (optional) and kadhi.
