Oatmeal Carmelitas is a delectable snack with the goodness of oats and yummy caramel. There are lots of variations in snack bars but this delightful snack made with oats crust and caramel topping is sure to make your day.The crust is made with flour, soda, quick rolled oats, brown sugar, butter and salt. 

The crumb mixture is baked gently followed by the topping process. The chocolate pieces and pecans are sprinkled over and then the blended caramel mix is spread over it. Bake, chill and relish the bars immediately!

  • For the Crust:
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ tsp. soda
  • 1 cup quick rolled oats
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • For the filling:
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
  • ¾ cup caramel ice cream topping
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans

How to Make Oatmeal Carmelitas

  • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients for the crust.
  • Blend well with a mixer to form crumbs.
  • Press half of the crumbs into the bottom of an 11 x 7 inch pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate pieces and pecans.
  • Blend caramel topping and flour, spread over chocolate and pecans. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer or until golden brown. Chill for 1 to 2 hours. Cut into 24 bars.
