  • 2 cups Rice flour
  • 1/4 cup Urad dal
  • 1/2 cup Rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup Split roasted gram dal/pottukadalai
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 cup Coconut milk
  • Salt
  • Oil for Deep Frying

How to Make Oats Coconut Murukku

  • Grind as fine powder the split roasted gram.
  • Dry roast the rolled oats and grind as a fine powder.
  • Dry roast the urad dal and grind as fine powder.
  • Take the rice flour, split gram dal flour, oats flour and urad dal flour along with salt, sesame seeds and cumin seeds.
  • Meanwhile heat the coconut milk and butter together on simmer.
  • Don't boil the coconut milk.
  • Add this heated coconut milk to the flours and knead everything as a soft and stiff dough.
  • Heat oil for Deep Frying.
  • Take a ball of dough in a muruku press.
  • Squeeze out the murukku over a greased plate and drop gently in to the hot oil.
  • Fry on both sides until the oil stops bubbling.
  • Drain the excess of oil in a paper towel.
