  • 1 cup - Rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup - Cooked yellow moong dal
  • 1 cup - Mixed veggies
  • 1 - Onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp - Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tsp - Garlic (chopped)
  • 1 tsp - Mustard seeds + Cumin seeds
  • 1- Green chillies (slit opened)
  • 10 - Whole black peppers
  • A few curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1 - Bay leaves
  • Salt
  • Oil

How to Make Oats, Mixed Veggies and Moong dal Khichdi

  • Heat enough oil.
  • Fry the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and bay leaves.
  • Add the chopped onions, slit opened green chillies, grated ginger, curry leaves and chopped garlic.
  • Cook until the onions turns translucent.
  • Now add the mixed vegetables, whole black peppers, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Cook for a few seconds, add two cups of water, cooked moong dal and bring to boil.
  • Meanwhile dry roast the rolled oats and keep aside.
  • Add the roasted oats to the boiling water, stir well and cook for few minutes.
  • Put off the stove and don't disturb for a few seconds.
  • Serve hot with pickles or papads.
